Texas Instruments Innovation Laboratory (TIIL) organized 3 days Certificate Course on “Machine to Machine Communication using TI Embedded Controllers” for final year EEE and ECE students from 07/03/2022 to 09/03/2022. The prime focus of this certificate course was to introduce Embedded Evaluation boards by Texas Instruments (TI) for Machine to Machine Communication. Totally 31 students participated and got hands on experience in all the embedded board available in TIIL.
In Day 1 (07/03/2022), participants gained basics knowledge about the embedded systems using TI embedded boards. Specifically they had hands on experience in MSP430G2ET, MSP430F5529 and MSP432P401R LaunchPads. TI Innovation Lab coordinator, Dr. S. Saravanan, AP/EEE briefed about the objectives of this centre. Also, he showcased the hardware peripherals available in Texas Instruments Innovation Laboratory. Coordinator of Centre for IIoT, Mr. M. S. Kalyanasundaram, AP/EEE trained the participants to access the I/O ports in various LaunchPads. Mr. P. Mohanraj, AP/ECE and Mr. G. Jayahari Prabhu, AP/ECE are trained the participants to interface various sensors and actuators with LaunchPads.
In Day 2 (08/03/2022), Mrs. M. Maheswari, AP/EEE introduced the concept of Machine to Machine Communication. The training on RF communication between two machines using 1GHz TI RF booster was given. The concept of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) was clarified. The participants learned to control one machine’s actuators through another machine without human interference.
In Day 3 (09/03/2022), the participants were trained in TI Robotic Systems Learning Kit (RSLK). The TI-RSLK installed with QTR sensor for detecting lines, bump switch for detecting obstacles and motors for rover movement. The participants solved the assignments in line-following robot, Obstacle avoidance robot and swarm robot.
