The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized Two days National Level Workshop entitled with “Productive Tools for Writing Journal and Articles” from January 07th to 08th 2019. As a cumulative, 40 number of faculties, research scholars and students from various institutions were eagerly participated in this workshop. Principal Dr. M. Sekar, presided over the function and delivered his felicitation address to the participants. During his address, he pointed out the importance of the workshop and also motivated the participants to develop the journal writing skills with the aid of modern tools. Head of the department, Dr. C. Senthil Kumar gave his inaugural address where he explained the importance of tools that are used for journal preparation. He also discussed the essential qualities of a good research paper.
In the first day of workshop, productive features of Microsoft word and Microsoft visio were introduced and hands on training was provided for all the participants. Mr. M. S. Kalyana Sundaram, Assistant Professor of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering presented the various advanced features available in Microsoft word 2016. Mr. S. S. Dheeban, Assistant Professor of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering delivered his presentation about the various grammar & spell checking tools available in online. Mr. S. Saravanan, Assistant Professor of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering gave hands on training on Microsoft Visio, where he trained the participants to work with MS visio for creating and exporting the general diagrams, organizational charts, Engineering diagrams, floor plans and plots.
Second day of the programme started with the concepts of Plagiarism checking which was presented by Dr. R. Sivasangari, Professor of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Dr. G. Vairamuthu, Associate Professor of Department of Mechanical Engineering provided his lecture on Journal writing methodologies. He delivered about impact factor, citations, calculation of h-index & i-index. Principal, Dr. M. Sekar shared his knowledge and experience in Endnote-clarivate analytics for thesis preparation. LaTeX is one of the productive tool used for journal & thesis writing. Resource person, Dr. N. Kamatchi, Associate Professor in Department of Mathematics, Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology, Virudhunagar, presented a lecture about the LaTeX tool & its importance. Mr. L. K. Balaji Vignesh, Assistant Professor of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, assisted the hands on training session. During valedictory function, certificates were distributed to all the participants. Mr. S. Saravanan, Assistant Professor of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, extended his gratitude for the supporters and participants.
