The Women Empowerment Cell of AAA College of Engineering and Technology (AAACET) Sivakasi, organized an Guest Lecture on “Hidden Traps of Social Media” at our campus on 25.09.2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Sir Visvesvaraya Hall. The session was led by Mrs.R.Pon Meena, Inspector of Police,Vachakarapatti, Virudhunagar district, who shared valuable insights on traps of Social media.
The program was Coordinated by Dr. R.Anitha, AP/Physics, and Mrs.V.Chandra, AP/EEE, with support from the convenor Dr.N.Thenmoezhi., AP/ECE & faculty members of the Women Empowerment Cell. The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, symbolizing the enlightenment of knowledge The programme was attended by first, second & third year female students and began with the Thamizh Thai Vazhthu. Ms.R.Abirami., III EEE welcomed the guest and the audience, and Ms.R.Nithya Lakshmi., III EEE introduced the guest speaker.
Mrs.R.Ponmeena’s address focused on uncovering the often unnoticed risks and psychological pitfalls associated with heavy social media use. It emphasized the significant influence platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter have on behavior, mental health, relationships, and overall well-being. The lecture concluded by emphasizing the need for digital literacy and critical thinking when navigating social media. Users should be aware of the hidden traps, practice mindful usage, and take control of their digital environments to protect their mental health and well-being.
The guest speaker encouraged the students to evaluate their relationship with social media and adopt healthier, more intentional habits. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms.A.Priyanka., III EEE, and the National Anthem. The program was a great success.
